“Come Early”

Your invitation to spend time on Calvary prior to Jesus' arrival, and after being unified with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, to remain.

God is so in love with you! He values your company.

Honor His Real Presence with your presence. Be sure to love Him properly in return.

A NEW LESSON

As you pray on this Friday in church during Eucharistic Adoration prior to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, Jesus has you pray simultaneously on Calvary on the day of mankind's Redemption, in anticipation of His arrival and Crucifixion.

"With God, all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26).

How does the Lord do it?  He brings Calvary right into the church.

“COME EARLY”

You kneel so close to Christ's Real Presence in the Blessed Sacrament,  clearly visible in the monstrance on the altar, and at the same time are also on Calvary.

Jesus invites you to be very near to Him, and to be an important part of His life and mission.

He is so in love with you.

What is that like, to have arrived early at the place of Christ's Crucifixion?  Is anyone else there?

What are you thinking; what are you doing?  What are others doing?

What does it mean to you to be there, and to have been brought there.

God is so in love with you.

BE THERE

"…Could you not keep vigil with me for one hour?" (Matthew 26:40).

Make a Holy Hour prior to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and spend precious, priceless time with your Savior.

He is so in love with you!

As you pray, others enter the church and begin praying and preparing their hearts to enter into a mystery prior to the re-presentation of Christ's Passion and Crucifixion on Calvary.

Separately and also together, everyone worships God in His house.

Become familiar with your surroundings.  Ask Jesus to show you Calvary through His eyes.

He is so in love with you.

CELEBRATING HOLY MASS ON CALVARY PRIOR TO CHRIST'S ARRIVAL

"All Jesus Christ did, He did for us. His prayers, His tears, His watchings, His fasting, His preaching, His journeys, His conversations, His miracles-all those were for us."  ~ Saint John Vianney, Sermon on Love for God

During the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, the congregation sings, listens to God's Word, prays, and is loved by God in so many ways as we love Him in return.

Simultaneously, as you worship the Lord in church while also standing on Calvary, Jesus suffers His Passion and travels along the Way of the Cross.

He begins in the Garden, where He prays for our salvation and sanctification, for strength, and submits Himself to the will of God the Father while pouring forth God's love for us through all time and space.  As you pray on Calvary, Jesus sweats and cries tears of Precious Blood in the Garden of Gethsemane.

During the readings, you listen from your place in church and on Calvary, as Jesus stands at the pillar and is scourged.

His Sacred Flesh and Precious Blood projects from His pure Body as He is scourged.  Jesus sows the seeds of faith with Himself out into time and space, having already become our spiritual food and drink, our sustenance, our strength, and our direction.

You see Jesus crowned with thorns, struck, mocked, despised, scorned, rejected, and spit upon as He spends Himself for us, His spilled Blood defining our way to God and to Heaven, through Him.

I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me" (John 14:6).

Christ's behavior is our model, His love our beacon of light, His sacrifice an eternal gift to us, His Body and Blood our nutrition.

From your place on Calvary you hear the sounds of a sacred procession approaching in the distance.

Jesus is carrying the Cross and while He does so, petitions God the Father to allow Him to make it to His final destination.  Jesus is eager to keep going so He can be crucified on the Cross for our Redemption and so His Sacred Heart can be torn open by a lance to release torrents of love and mercy for us.

As Jesus makes His way past every person, including you, He petitions each one personally, "Soul, help Me!"

If your heart is completely open, you will clearly hear His summons.

Perhaps you respond to Jesus with a prayer.

"Jesus, this is my body, which is given up for You.  I give myself entirely to you, and promise to love and honor You, all the days of my life."

SO MANY GIFTS SO FREELY GIVEN

As the gifts are brought up, and then as the celebrant prepares for the Consecration, you see Jesus preparing for the Last Supper.

You also see at the same time and in the same place up at the altar, people are performing different duties. Parents prepare the table for the family's dinner within their homes, students are taught at a table...you see people serving other people through time and space in the manner they were called to, people living, loving, serving, and sacrificing in imitation of Christ.

WORKING TOGETHER AS THE MYSTICAL BODY OF CHRIST FOR THE SALVATION AND SANCTIFICATION OF EVERY SOUL THROUGH ALL TIME

We do not love sacrificially and suffer alone.  We suffer with Christ, and He suffers with us. We suffer with the mistreated, the ignored, the invisible, the unwanted, the despised, the shunned, and the martyred.  Individually and also together, we travel with Him along the Way of the Cross and offer our lives to God with Jesus.

During the consecration, you are there on Calvary as Jesus is crucified before you…in the crowd you see the people of that time along with the devout faithful through all time.  You see the saints, the martyrs, the lukewarm…you also see those who do not go to church.  The Lord tells you that when we pray for others, we bring them with us to the foot of the Cross.

STRIPPED OF EVERYTHING IN IMITATION OF CHRIST

On Calvary we appear as we really are.  We appear most like Christ to the extent that we have chosen to live in imitation of Him.  How do you appear on Calvary?

When we work hard at being truly holy then we take on Jesus' likeness.

We appear weak, poor, patient, submissive, gentle, merciful, forgiving, wounded, welcoming, and loving.

We become living Devotions to the Holy Face of Jesus (learn more).

Since we have given the Lord our consent to use as us He sees fit, tremendous amounts of God’s love pours forth from us in imitation of Christ, and we become magnificent channels of grace for the massive conversion of sinners.

"REMAIN"

At the Lord's request, following the conclusion of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass you remain and spend some precious, priceless moments with Jesus and enjoy His most loving embrace.  God is so in love with you!

Be sure to love Him lavishly in return.
