"For You"

Yes, it's true;  you are loved and valued by God beyond measure.

Today's lesson is called "For You."

Jesus tells us during every single Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, "This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me" (Luke 22:19).

See Him surrender to God the Father for you in the Garden.

Watch as He leaves the Garden and permits Himself to be taken into custody, as He submits to the unimaginable scourging, and as He hands Himself over to be nailed to a Cross.

FOR YOU

Jesus presents this lesson to you using images of His Sacred Hands.

First you are shown the Sacred Hands of our First Priest, the High Priest, our Lord and Savior at the Last Supper, as He presents His Sacred Body and Blood during the First Consecration as the Food for our souls.

Jesus shows you His Sacred Hands joined in prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane as He surrenders His will to God the Father for our Redemption.

Then you see Christ's Sacred Hands presented to the guards before being bound, then surrendered to be fastened to a pillar, then offered by a Man who became a Sacrificial Lamb, to be stretched out and nailed to the wood of a Cross.

Finally, Jesus shows you Sacred Hands during the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass today, and simultaneously during every Holy Mass celebrated through all time.

You are shown all those re-presentations of His Passion and Death as distinct events and at the same time as one, as Jesus comes to us again and again and again at the consecration and the presentation of each Eucharistic Banquet.

FOR HIM

We are to imitate Christ, by offering our hands to Him for the accomplishment His designs, to hold Him, to hold others, to do His work caring for others...

Jesus concludes this lesson not with a show of hands but by a show of wills, with an image of you receiving Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament on your tongue.

IN CONCLUSION

We are to hold out our tongues for Him as He held out His Sacred Hands for us.
