Chapter 17: "Sacrificial Gratitude"

What Bridegroom is thanked by His beloved with silence during their wedding where heaven meets earth on Mount Calvary, inside of God’s House? “It is best to learn to silence the faculties and to cause them to be still so that God may speak.” ~ Saint John of the Cross

JESUS, BOTH THE DIVINE BRIDEGROOM AND GUEST

Our Divine Redeemer is both the Divine Bridegroom and Divine Guest at His wedding to each one of us during the daily offering to God of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

“Take God for your spouse and friend and walk with Him continually, and you will not sin and will learn to love, and the things you must do will work out prosperously for you.” ~ Saint John of the Cross

THE TRADITIONAL TRIDENTINE HOLY SACRIFICE OF THE MASS CELEBRATED IN LATIN ON THIS TUESDAY MORNING AT ST. JOSEPH'S

“What is of the greatest importance is to know that union with God is not reserved for a small number of privileged souls; God calls every soul of good will to union with Himself, regardless of the way by which He chooses to lead it.”~  Father Gabriel of St. Mary Magdalen, O.C.D., “Divine Intimacy,” p. 1095

Jesus the Divine Bridegroom of every soul comes to console us Himself, and with Himself, each new day.

“Who teaches the soul if not God?” ~ Saint John of the Cross

He manifests Himself there in the supernatural in the natural, sitting next to the suffering and fatigued prior to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, as prayers as Almighty God is first offered the Prayers of Reparation to the Holy Face of Jesus.

This is so deeply affecting, consoling, unfathomably loving, comforting, and fortifying.

"The Mass is the most favorable occasion to speak with the eternal Father, because then we offer Him His only Son as a victim for our salvation. Before celebrating, reflect on the sufferings of your Redeemer, commune peaceably with Him, even in the midst of dryness; carry to the altar the needs of the entire world." ~ Saint Paul of the Cross

Jesus remains by your side as both Divine Bridegroom of every soul and as the Divine Guest, taking last place alongside you there in the back row, kneeling, sitting, standing, there with you during the offering of the Roman Rite, while coming as He promised during the Consecrations of both Sacred Species at His High Altar on Mount Calvary, while offering the Lord's Prayer, and then He accompanies you up the isle during Holy Communion to receive and to be unified with His Real Presence in the Blessed Sacrament.

HOLY COMMUNION

"How wonderful are the treasures which are enclosed in the Divine Eucharist! I exhort you, even though you live in the world, to receive Communion often, but with piety. Holy Communion is the most efficacious means of uniting one's self to God. Always prepare yourself well for this sacred banquet. Have a very pure heart, and watch over your tongue, for it is on the tongue that the Sacred Host is laid. Carry Our Lord home with you after your thanksgiving, and let your heart be a living tabernacle for Jesus. Visit Him often in this interior tabernacle, offering Him your homage, and the sentiments of gratitude with which divine love will inspire you. Preserve carefully the sentiments of love with which you are filled after Communion." ~ Saint Paul of the Cross

SACRIFICIAL THANKSGIVING

The Divine Bridegroom of every soul is, at this time of union with His Real Presence, thanked  by His beloved in silence during their wedding where heaven meets earth on Mount Calvary, inside of God’s House.

“The measure of love is to love without measure.” ~ Saint Francis de Sales

At the conclusion of the spectacular, and unfathomably beautiful, Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, the celebrant offers a final blessing as One with Christ and that is done for us together while at the same time for each one of us alone.

IN CONCLUSION: THE MARIAN PRAYERS, PRAYER TO SAINT MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL, AND TO THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS

The Divine Bridegroom of every soul remains at your side during the Marian prayers following the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, asking with you for the maternal intercession of His Immaculate Mother, through whom Almighty God sent Him to us first and who continues to lead and guide us to her Son.

She is the Immaculate Mother of both the Divine Groom and His beloved, and the Mediatrix of all our Triune God’s Divine supernatural graces.

"Build an oratory within yourself, and there have Jesus on the altar of your heart. Speak to Him often while you are doing your work. Speak to Him of His holy love, of His holy sufferings and of the sorrows of most holy Mary." ~ Saint Paul of the Cross

Jesus then accompanies each one out of the church and remains with us at all times. ‘

What wonders; just imagine love that lavish.
