Many horrible wars and natural disasters have plagued mankind throughout history. Did you guess that it was one of those?
By far the most colossal humanitarian disaster in the history of mankind is legalized abortion. The disaster is happening right now, in our time. and we are responsible for it because of the choices we have made.
Over 48 million people have been killed through abortion in the United States since the Roe vs. Wade decision (National Right to Life Abortion Statistics: http://www.nrlc.org/abortion/facts/abortionstats.html November 1st, 2007).
Approximately 42 million abortions occur every year worldwide (HealthDay: http://www.healthday.com/Article.asp?AID=609085 November 1st, 2007).
Abortion killed 73 times more Americans than died in battle in our last 12 wars combined (America's Wars: U.S. Casualties and Veterans: http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0004615.html November 1st, 2007).
Because we have refused to defend others' right to life since abortion became legal in the United States in 1973, our nation finds itself on the brink of losing its freedom all together.
As we have seen historically, things can change very rapidly, virtually overnight. We are now reaping what we have sown.
In all the election year chatter, there is much mention of the serious lack of moral candidates from which to choose. What each one of us must do first and foremost is look within ourselves and become the moral leaders we seek. We must do this for ourselves, our families, our communities, our nation, and our world.
When we strive to grow in holiness, we will have holy leaders to choose from. When we are not morally sound ourselves, we choose and are granted leaders that reflect our spiritual poverty.
As a result of our very own choices, we live in the time of the greatest humanitarian disaster humanity has ever experienced. As a matter of fact, we caused it.
United States of America, arise from your slumber, and please hurry!
